    Default My Beltronics 995 Review

Hello there everybody. Here is a review for the beltronics 995, which was rated up there with the juggernauts back then, and in my opinion still strong till this day.
I had my 995 from 2008 to Nov 2014 in three different vehicles, my last two being hardwired. During that time I have driven roughly 175,000 miles... and not a single speeding ticket or moving violation.
From 2008 to 2014 my driving habits changed as I matured, and even with reckless driving, speeding, racing in the past I have had my 995 warn me from at least half a mile away (and I thank the radar God's that the officers radar were constant on during those moments) giving enough time for my upgraded brakes to slow me down. When I hit my early to mid 20s I stopped racing and speeding all together, but would speed 10-15 over the limit following the fast lane flow of traffic. (I guess I'm putting speeding with the flow of traffic and just speeding in different categories).
I operated it with the X band enabled since I would commute to Jersey as well. The false alerts weren't bad, and I was pleasantly surprised about how well it did compared to my friends V1, but now it false alerts a lot more than back then. I guess as technology advances the filtering on the units get worse over time. I never had issues with it false alerting with newer vehicles.
During my drive to NY to CA San Diego it worked well. Minimal false alerts over various different highways, and always gave me at least a half a mile to slow.
I live in San Diego now, and during this time I had x band disabled along with laser and ku. It prompts you an extra two beeps letting you know it is disabled on ignition. The radar was mounted hardwired right underneath the rear view mirror, underneath the upper tint of the windshield.
She treated me well these past few years, and is sitting in my closet after I bought my new car... I'm debating on upgrading to a newer bel or escort unit. But she's been so faithful to me I'm actually considering sending her in for an firmware update to beltronics, because it just may be worth it.

    False Alerts: 4/10
    Range: 7/10
    Build Quality: 10/10
    Volume: 10/10

My insurance has me as a great driver, no accidents, tickets, 5 year clean driving record discount... and most of it was due to my 995. I can't count how many times where there was an accident, or road construction with no signs or any warning, and how my radar alerted K band and slowed me down. Well here's my in depth review of it, and this is from my experience and personal opinion.

Hope this helps any shoppers that's looking for a cheaper alternative.

    Thanks!

I think I'm going with the Max2 or redline for my next radar. Escort live and the internal GPS seems like a worthy upgrade with good range and consistency.

My 995 will be a backup just in case the new models decide to go in for any warranty repairs.
