I drive a 94 Cavalier 4dr which obviously isn't anyone's idea of a sport's car, but just for sh!ts and giggles when I go home this Thanksgiving weekend I'm going to see just how fast I can top out at. That or find out just how much push it takes for it to fall to peices and how far I need to walk after that.

My 07' Corvette z51 Coupe top speed track tested at 198mph or 317.7km/h in 5th gear. tire pressure monitor light came on..lol

I've got a Cold air intake installed, headers, and exhaust.

Got the golf vr6 to 140, i would have like to got it off the clock but road wasnt long enough, done on air strip of course

its limited to 155 through the gearbox!

I think with low litres they tend to stop when they cant pull the car any faster, where as with a 2.8 it doesnt stop and keeps accelerating until its hitting the rev limiter..

True most have long ratio 6th gears.

    The vr does 40 in 1st and 70 in 2nd .

They should just have 2 gears and that will cut down on highway speeding no need for speed limiters, 2 gears they are limiters!

Was able to do 110 :P

When I read laserblaster's statement, it made me think about my car. 1st gear tops at around 43, 2nd at around 80ish, then I don't know where my other two gears go. :? I thought I had 4 gears plus O/D, but now I wonder.

Unless he like added a Rolls-Royce Merlin jet engine to the roof he's full of **** Would take something like 300 horsepower to push one of those shoeboxes at 150

The latest Cressidas to be imported from Japan shared the same 3.0L inline-6 190hp engine with the non-turbo Supras. Both were Toyota flagship cars at the time; one luxury the other sport. I think the Cressida helped develop Toyota's Lexus line. 140mph doesn't sound like a far stretch with 190hp, 150mph could be plausible. My friend topped out his 190hp Civic past the 130mph on the speedo with 3 people in the car, he was probably going low 140s. The 94 Civic isn't as boxy as the Cressida, but it sure wasn't developed in the wind tunnel neither.
