    Default Choice of rental car

    Hi all

about to book my car rental for next year's trip, I shall be touring New England for 4 weeks from 17th Sept 2007 for 4 weeks. I know it's a year away but we are about to book things and pay for things now.
I have the choice of a Ford Mustang (which i except will be a base model :-() or a Chevy Trailblazer (LS ?), we have had the chevy Blazer before on a few trips but not the trailblazer.

On the last trip we did 3999.2miles in 3 weeks, so which do you rekon is the better car for a rental. We will be doing a LOT of driving.
    So any ideas?

    cheers

well if you have more than 2 people than i'd go for the trailblazer, if not MUSTANG! even though it has the v6 still more fun than the suv, do you have equitment or anything? do you have to take your luggage along with? if so than trailblazer or better yet an explorer(ford)

it'll just be 2 of us but with 2 large bags, clothes for a month.
Rucksacks and maybe a laptop bag aswell.

Looking at the new bags that we'll be using the are over 35 inches long, and aprrox 24 inches wide so we need to make sure we will have room.
We'll not be stopping in one place that long, mostly 1 or 2 nights in a place and then move except for the final few days when we expect to stop in Ogunquit for 4-5 days before returning home.

My head says get the Trailblazer (or simliar would like a Grand Cherekee) but my heart says MUSTANG !, or even better Shelby GT-H from Hertz :-)

Mustang all the way. The TrailBlazer is a decent SUV, but you'd be much happier in the Mustang. Automatic V6 though isn't the best choice, if you can get one with a V8 engine go go go! Don't forget the Mustang has a trunk and a backseat to throw stuff in, no big deal.

dont think the rental Mustnags will be a V8 :-(

Plus dont want anhting on display on the back seats.

After thinking this afternoon I think sensibly it'll have to be the SUV

theres the option of the 300C but I dont want to look like a pimp

One rental firm are offering the CTS from Boston Logan.

    Choices choices.

CTS looks good but the BBC Top Gear show gave it a real bad review

does the CTS show down 4 cyclinders when it's crusing on the highway ?

Anything that's an American car gets really bad on a TopGear review

The CTS's at the rentals are probably all V6's, either the 2.8 210hp or the 3.6 255hp, both run 6 cyls full-time.

    yeah thats true :-)

Clarkson runs a V1 on the Top Gear races they just hide it very well from the camera.

well if ur worryign about advertising stuff in the back seat, SUVs dont have any place thats totally hidden like a trunk. and just put a blanket over the stuff in the back seat.

300's are not pimp unless u got some bling and some 5% tint and all that jazz.

cts would be so sick, cadillacs are boss.

i would go wit hanything NOT SUV because its just plain easier and more fun and if anything the same or better milage. ok maybe not better but u get the point
