Yeah thanks guys. Great idea on the Hondas. Civics and Preludes are pretty cheap used, and so far most of the ones I have found have redone interiors .
The problem is that most of them have body kits which either look unique and good or they look like total crap .
Edit: Man, the front end of this car looks amazing. It would be pretty stealth with a flat black paint job instead of the red

edit2: Since my whole family will be spending the entire summer out in Washington (dad's family is out there) my mom has decided to buy a cheapish car and let me, my dad, and my brother drive it home to Maine!!!!
We're not sure what we're getting though, but my uncle owns a high-end pawn shop and might have some insider deals. The car will almost 100% be a Honda or Toyota. Now the problem is that we don't have garage space for a third car, and I leaving it outside in Maine will age it a lot faster than having it garaged. Is there any good car cover that will protect from snow and the cold?

It's no damn fun sitting at home doing nothing and not being able to drive that great car because you are broke from making car and insurance payments or fixing an old car all the time.
x2 It was no fun having to work so much that I couldn't ven take my show car to car shows

Buy one, drive one, mod one... learn about cars!

    Pros:
Easy to tune and learn about cars
Light on wallet in stock form, and insurance isn't too bad just because age. (Of the cars).
Can be made to look sporty and decent, find one with no dings.
    UNLIMITED upgrades.
Plethora of tuners for limitless info & extra parts.

    Cons:
Its a DSM... when something goes wrong, find the weirdest most 'der, der, der' piece that could cause it (heck with the obvious stuff that it normally would be on any other car) and replace that first, because thats ALWAYS it. Don't really do this, but they can be frustrating... because things will break.

Its hard to find an unmolested one.

Case closed junior. School is out. Buy one.

NEXT QUESTION! (Seriously though, this is a great choice for a first car).
I forgot about those one of my friends in high school use to drive a 12second 95gsx before he switched to his TA

But I can agree they are to find un abused. I am looking at an WRX, STi, or EVO for my next car but they are hard to find unabused

EDIT With the first car like a honda don't look for body kits and nice interiors as you will not get your money back from modications. To have a nice first car I would make sure the nice paint, tint the windows the legal limit and make sure its got a good stereo

yeah rob, I don't really want a body kit at all, but all of the inexpensive civics already had them :x.
Since this will be our Washington car, and my dad will probably be spending the most time in the car (unless he lets me drive, which he probably will) he gets to decide the car. I think that the Civic is too small for him, because he hates not having headroom. What is the next size up? I don't know Honda's at all.

Also, whats a good midsize Acura sedan?

how hard is it to remove window tint? If the car has too dark of a tint (the legal limit in Maine is 35% for rear windows and windshield, no tint on front windshield or windows, except the 5" AS1 line on the top of the windshield. Also no reflective tint allowed) I can always steam it off, right? I'm not sure what the laws are in Washington, but the car will most likely be registered there.

Yes you can get a great car cover for a couple hundred dollars. They work great. I have one for the Vette that I use when we go on trips and it has to stay outside. I know a lot of Vette owners that don't have garages or who drive them as their daily driver car use this same cover. I use the Coverking Stretch Satin cover. Some of the guys that leave them out all the time use the Storm Proof.

A step up would be an Accord which is very comfortable. But since you are taking this car accross country. Definitely want to put alot of thought into the fact that you are driving this car cross country so make sure it was recently maintained and no need of major repairs. Also comfort factor and if its your money your spending on the car I would tell my parents, no dice. That is alot od wear and tear

Honestly though the most comfortable car I have been in for long road trips is my Volvo. 4 college guys either just under or over 6foot and there was plenty of room to sit and be comfortable. But the trunk was so loaded that to put a 6 pack of beer in the back for one of the kids father we had to individually stuff each bottle somewhereI think the drive accross country ruined my intense care I had for the car after that.

Yes that is duct tape holding up the underbody

It will most likely be half my money, half my parents, with me responsible for gas and insurance. I may be able to get them to cover more though, since this will be a car for them to use all summer.

I would never recommend a used Evo or STi. The only point of these cars is to abuse them. They have absolutely no worth as daily drivers. I meticulously maintain my Evos and I would still never sell one of them to a friend because they have hard miles on them.

I would suggest a Legacy GT, 2005-present. 2.5l turbo engine with 250hp/250tq and AWD, sounds like fun to me. In a year or two I plan on getting one. My first car is in my sig.

Your first car is a GTO? Nice!
So you're getting a Subaru in addition to the GTO or to replace it?
