Of course, that $375,000 car ends up costing $451,570 once you add up the initial $10,000 deposit, the $50,000 second deposit, then the 24 monthly lease payments all up front at $298,000, then the $93,750 buyout at lease end.

Plus all the credit checks and the insurance requirement, and the fact that all 24 payments have to be paid up front (so it's really a 2 year payment, not 24 monthly payments)... you've forked over $357,820 even before they'll hand you the keys. That's just $17,180 shy of the $375,000 price. They should just sell the d@mn car outright at that point.

This will be an attractive option for people who are both rich and stupid. Talk about lousy lease terms. Normally I wouldn't say this, but I hope they sell (lease) ZERO vehicles under those terms.

All 500 of them are spoken for at this point. There's a sucker born every minute.

I guess when one has more money than common sense it doesn't matter how bad the terms are...

I heard that they're doing this to prevent flippers from buying them and immediately selling them to desperate people who weren't lucky enough to be one of the 500 to be allowed to buy one. Not sure if it's true, but it makes sense.
