How many miles does this pup-chops have?

It might also be time to change your timing belt and *water pump* well you are at it... when is the last time these were done? Could be a water-pump not working at its peak performance if it is due for a change... OR it could be all the other things that have already been said in the thread (fan cycles, thermos, etc).

I just had this done at 150k for the peace-of-mind factor on my 2000 Honda Civic EX Coupe...

Generally it is said do them @ something like 75-85k, then again @ 150k... not to mention the timing belt can save you huge future hassles...

i had that exact same problem with my 93 civic... turns out the head gasket was a little fried and coolant was leaking through.. other than that make sure there is no air trapped in the system.. watch out for too much heat.. your head might warp

I just had a crappy overheating experience recently on my 92 explorer. One day got caught in a traffic jam and the temp went almost red. I did a Uturn and found a parking lot to sit and I watch as my coolant is blowing out the tank. The thermostat was completely siezed closed so I took the backroads home after a little while and the next day bought a new thermostat. I thought this job will only take 1 hour since its in plain sight and I got everything I need. WRONG the last bolt holding the thermostat housing snapped completely off and I was stuck with a non driveable vehicle. I called a small shop and got a good estimate and then I called a tow truck. 3 days and $150 later ($60 tow & $80 fix) I got my truck back looking like nothing ever happened.

Another thing if your car overheats don't forget to immediately change your oil after getting the rest fixed. Oil quicky breaks down into a watery fulid after being cooked in extreme heat. My oil change after the event was the quickest ever. It only took only 30 seconds to fully drain out 5qts of oil

On my old van I had a electric fan that blew a fuse and $5 later it was good as new. Some vehicles have a fuse for low fan speed and high fan speed so check the fuses carefully

That is my biggest fear of breaking bolts.
