I am not saying that Cobra's are better then other brands, I just saying that they are not as bad as some say...You get what you pay for. If you can't afford a V1, Redline, STi or some other high end RD then a Cobra may be an alternative.
    Nice post.

Yes the new Cobra's have pretty darn good false alarm filtering

Your cobra has a spectre alert which you may want to use.

Sounds like in your area it isn't a problem but that feature comes with your detector anyway.

Not the hallmark of a bad detector is it?
Except I've witnessed it alerting to itself with nothing else around to set it off several times. As for "letting her use it" that's her choice, I've offered to get her a Pro series whistler or another RD but she wants to use it because it was a gift to her, and yes she has gotten a speeding ticket while using it and it was constant on Ka that got her at that. So you can call me a basher if you want or what not, but like I've stated several times now I only post what I've personally witnessed. If you don't believe that's fine and dandy. But I'll leave your little cobra thread alone now since it seems I am "bashing" your RD.
    just found this interesting video.

Proof Cool jay is a total cobra basher and one can't believe a word he says..

Pro 73 picks up super leaky cobra RD - YouTube

My Cobra has been working extremely fine thank you and as DJ pointed out the gol tests shows it's at least equivalent to your Whistler.

frankly almost his whole story is more then a bit suspicious here.

Do some Cobra's leak. Yes. Do other brands leak. Also YES.

    Simple as that

it's understanding these ratios on the road because so many cheaper Cobras are sold he has difficulties with.

Wow you found one of my OLD videos that showed my old Pro-73 (which btw is outdated by now and the video was posted in 2008) picking up a leaky cobra, confirmed by me seeing the COBRA RD in the WINDSHIELD of the car as it passed and the alert faded afterwards. Call me a basher if you want, but I will once again say it: I only state what I've seen/witnessed myself. You don't have to believe it if you don't want to hell I don't care if you and everyone else doesn't believe it, but honestly you going on about this subject is making you look childish. If you don't agree/believe what I say is true that's fine say so and move on, but to linger on it like you're doing is very childish.

Yes and the video STILL PROVES your a complete basher not withstanding the age which wasn't all that long ago as anyone can see.

    " Throw your Cobras out.."

Boy, you have excellent eyes to be able to tell what detector is what as they pass you at 100 MPH closing speeds !

I have watched this video a few times now and I still can't do it or frankly even see the detector ! LOL!

personally I don't believe a word you say now and neither should anyone else frankly.

I have heard people swear up and down they have seen the abominable snowman too.

and Elvis alive and living in Hawaii under another name

also that they saw Obama's real birth certificate and he's a foreigner

Your personal assertions mean SQUAT since your now a confirmed Cobra basher.

Sorry making you uncomfortable a bit by pointing this all out but it's the truth.

BTW my Cobra is head and shoulders BETTER then the whistler 78 I have.

    Very reliable so far.

Many many times the whistler would only alert when I was right on top of the cops.

It is a very spotty performing detector as DJ will attest to I am sure.

He has videos confirming this also.

Didn't want to believe him but after using it for a while I have to say it's the truth.

It also misidentifies x-band as k band very regularly !

whistler has taken the microwave lens idea from escort in order to try to improve it's long range which it does but it really SUBTRACTS from close range and off axis signal alerts.

One can see this same effect with telescope optics btw.

Stronger optics cut down on the amount of sky one can see at one time severely

that is why telescopes all have low power finder scopes.

*facepalm* how many times do I have to say this Mandingo? IF IT WORKS FOR YOU, IT WORKS FOR YOU AND THAT'S GREAT! Yes the whistler has the X/K confusion which has been part of the "design" now for awhile, does it bother me? Not one bit. Does it bother some people? Yes. Does my Pro-78SE work well for me including off axis and close encounters? Yes it does. Does it for some people? No. It all depends on the situation and where you live. Have I had any problems with my Pro-78SE picking up LEGIT radar? Not at all. Does a Cobra work for you? That's fine.

Like I said that was an old video, and like I also stated that was when Cobra had a lot of lower end leaky RDs on the market at wally world, rat shack etc. and the roads were full of them at the time. Has it gotten better? Sure, I only get the occasional quick Ka false from a Cobra every now and again, could this be because of the new filtering in the Pro-78SE? Possible. Could it be Cobra is finally fixing the "harmonic leak" issue? Very well could be true.

If it works for you, it works for you like I've stated several times over the years. Do I get pissed off and start jumping DJ when he mentions a whistler performing poorly or complaining about them? No, I read his posts and move on, BECAUSE I KNOW WHAT WORKS FOR ME. Simple as that. Now I'm going to leave this thread and if you post any replies be my guest, but I'm not going to respond to your trolling anymore because honestly at this point it's getting tiresome.

DJ called this very accurately to his credit on the whistler.

I didn't believe him at first having just bought the model and was getting some very good receptions with it but after a bit I realized I was also getting quite a few bad ones also.

Seriously the x-k confusion doesn't bother you at all ?

Does me. When I turn x band off I expect it to be off.

I really hope the updated whistlers do a whole lot better.

Obviously you have not seen my Whistler Se vids. My longest ranges ever have been the Whistler and I own a V1,3.872. My channel is griggja82

Yes, I have looked at them and they don't contradict what I am saying if you read it closely. They don't contradict the whistler problem of mistaken identity to x band signals either.

    That is a real problem

Gol confirms that the whistler has very very limited peripheral vision and DJ's video shows spotty performance.

I have to concur having used the brand sadly.

I hate complaining about the brand but frankly I look forward to the newer whistler models in a hope that these problems are fixed.

Thumbs up Re: Cobra S-XRS 9970G

Some more thoughts on my Cobra S-XRS 9970G:

    1. I've never noticed this before: When you get a alert on a Camera, Caution Area, or User Location, it will show your distance at the bottom of the screen for the first alert only on the Green (small) and Orange (medium) Icon only.

    2. GPS continues to amaze me.

    3. Range has been definitely increased on all bands. Off axis is a little weak.

    4. Remember to take your detectors off your windshield (leave your bracket on) during the high temperatures!

    More Later!
