More questions. 1/2 second I/O test, I'm assuming that would be Quick Trigger.

The 1 second test, would that qualify as regular Instant on or Q/T? I've never timed using and in car mounted radar (MPH used around here), but one second sounds like time to press and release casually doesn't it? Trying to put this one in context. If its regular instant on, I'm scared of my Escort, if its still rapid fire Q/T, I'm not as worried.

Do you suppose the LEO's around here would think I'm crazy if I asked to time them while they used instant on?

The V1 semi-scientific testing was all performed with Ka guard on.

Yes, but the results don't necessarily agree with the real world around the bend (off axis?) tests. The 35.5 off axis test, in particular, did not correspond with the Field Test results for the V1, STI, 9500ix and Whistler. Also, if you take the V1 with Ka guard off out of the equation, the STI takes the number one slot in the real world off axis test on 34.7.........yet the V1 again dominates in the "scientific" off axis test on 34.7? Same thing again at 33.8 if not for that 3.813 of Happy's.


Also......I don't recall anyone ever proclaiming a big improvement when upgrading from 3.864 to 3.872. In fact, the difference was just supposed to be a simple change in vendor on some internal components. If the 3.872 with Ka guard on is ANYTHING like what your results show I think people would have noticed the dramatic improvement before now.

I've been thinking about selling my 9500ix and buying a V1 because of the QT problem. These test reaffirm my worry with the 9500ix and QT. Anyone know if theirs a lot of QT around Columbus OH?

That makes me feel better. No Q/T used around here since they don't need to, with the lack of traffic here in rural Iowa, reg I/O defeats most detectors, but I want to know that a regular On/off I/O hit will be reported even at the far end of the range.

Based on what I'm seeing in the results the Escort products are going to be better for me. When you throw out the KA guard off setting and the unavailable 3.813, the V1 gets beat in most categories by the M3 remotes (and I assume Redline will be just like the M3 remotes).

I'm kind of suprised that the 9500ix is actually better than a V1 at KA. If you average the 3 Ka bands the 9500ix gets .155 compared to the 3.864 at .105, this really shocked me.

I'm going to try my V1 with KA guard off to see what its like, but if its as unlivable as I've heard, I guess I'll be trying a Redline out to replace it.

If anyone reading this has a radar unit (MPH would be my preferece, but beggars can't be choosy, and can test a 9500ci or even an ix with a regular I/O shot out at the far end of its range and see if it alerts, that would cement the deal for me.

The primary threat around my area is KA 34.7 and I get crazy good distance from my 9500ix and my X50(S7) is not far off. Having never owned a V1 I cannot speak the difference in performance but I am still satisfied with my Belscorts.

I have owned the cheaper RD in the past and it is not even close to my units now.

Maybe I need to try and find V1 3.182 to run and see how they compare.
