All RD's for the real world test were tested at their default settings with one exception. All were put on highway mode. For side tests we did turn off POP on the Whistlers and did not notice a noticeable difference in performance

I have noticed improvement on 34.7 Ka with POP OFF for radar coming straight at you on a very flat terrain. That is just my opinion. You also have to factor in humidity and all this in Texas. Up North a RD struggles compared to here. Where i need the extra sensitivity is in the Hill country or East Tx with allot of curves and trees and the guadalupe mountains near El paso

X2..With POP ON your looking to alert to every Cobra or Uniden for a 3 mile radius LOL. Microwave towers as well and more than one Automatic door detects PULSE and POP

On The Constant on test ..The Whistler 690 SE did better on 34.7 than the Pro 78 SE. On 35.5 Ka The 78 SE did better than the 690 SE. Manufacture variance? Also on The Instant on test did the Whistlers identify the Ka frequency every time?

Exactly. If the 3.872 is similar to the 3.864 in performance.......which was my experience......then that puts a whole new light on this 2009 test and the V1 is near the bottom of the list on Ka Band range!

Running the V1 with Ka guard off is simply not practical due to the crazy number of falses you will get on this band.

^ Good points you brought up in this thread. Most will just read 3.872 owned all and leave it at that. Looks like the STi was the real Ka champ ... which bodes well for the Redline.

The primary threat around my area is KA 34.7 and I get crazy good distance from my 9500ix and my X50(S7) is not far off. Having never owned a V1 I cannot speak the difference in performance but I am still satisfied with my Belscorts.

Maybe I need to try and find V1 3.182 to run and see how they compare.

I have the same two detectors you have and feel the same way about their 34.7 capabilities, though I think my 9500ix is better. I tried a V1 3.826 for 7 months and was not impressed with its Ka over hills and around corners ... to say the least.

Were the 9500ix's both upgraded 9500i's or was at least one of them a 9500ix its entire life? I've always wondered if there was a difference.

You need to try the STI 34.7 performance for 30 days bro. It is noticeably better than the ix and V1.

so were all the V1s tested with POP on ? I would like to see a test with at least one of them with pop off , that is what I would had done if I had 4 V1 running on the test.
