Los Angeles, California has a California driver's licence based on the 4 point system where most penalties are 1 point (some are 2 points).

Running a stop sign (or rolling stop) is 1 point, so this driver could loose her licence!

That is a very harsh penalty for running through a stop sign. Whats next?

The cameras seem to have pulled in a lot of money. The question is, have they actually "made driving safer"?? Sure they pulled in millions, but thats it. People are still going to do rolling stops.... and define rolling stop. If a driver approaches at 7 mph, rolls to 0.5 mph, checks all directions to make sure its safe and then crosses, does he get a ticket? It is all about the money.

I think these cameras will grow in popularity until they start recording whether we fold or scrunch. Then, there hopefully will be a revolt. In this day in age, everybody needs money and the easiest way to get it is through the tax payer. The founding fathers have to be rolling in their graves.

    Quoted from article>>>
The cameras have resulted in 35,000 citations over 18 months, racking up about $2 million in fines.

Los Angeles resident Ashley Wilson received four tickets totaling $700.
Talk about a huge revenue generator, esp for Californians since they treat most if not all stop signs more like a yield sign.

    Yes.

Sitting in traffic court, I heard more than one cop testify, that "His/her wheels were still turning which was why I stopped him/her for the failure to come to a complete stop."

I've come to the conclusion that having 'spinners' on your wheels could be a very bad idea. Might be a good defense in court, but you have no initial offense and a stop may be imminent for having them on your car.

As it should be. Drivers - especially in CA - roll right through red lights and stop signs as a matter of course. Not a day goes by when one of these MFFYs doesn't roll out in front of oncoming traffic, forcing me to take evasive action to avoid a collision.

And unlike with a red light camera, there's no way to "rig" a stop sign camera in order to artificially generate violations; either you stopped or you didn't, and the video will prove which.
