    Default Roundabouts - Near Miss

I just love Roundabouts. Everyday you find complete plastic bumpers, and car parts scattered along the grassy knolls. Signs are clipped about a foot off the ground. And even a light tower or two can be found laying on the ground.

The worst thing is you do not have the right-of-way if the other driver keeps on coming. The best thing to do is lay on the horn and let them pass.

Here is one today. The girl didn’t know how to yield. The “bell” sound is from the car cam indicating a rapid deceleration and putting the clip in the events folder. Very handy if you want to review the wilder encounters of the day other than rough railroad crossings.

This happens to me nearly every day. Soon I'll have to replace my worn out horn...

You died? I think my pulse skyrocketed. It is always fun knowing they are going to be stupid and there is nothing you can do but brake hard. The whole time she just looked at me with Bambi eyes like don't hit me.

Sometimes I just hold up my hand like that is going to stop them.

There are 3, two lane roundabouts here in the Michigan area. And I think Denver now has a few. The benefit is that the outside and inside lanes have certain dedicated exits. If followed, the system works great. The one in the video has a built up grassy knoll so that drivers look to the left and not ahead. That caused daily accidents before the dirt and trees were added.

Did you have your signal on to indicate you were going to take the next available exit? If everyone did that the whole experience would be much smoother and more efficient.

That does seem like a screwy design. I think it's acceptable to have a multi-lane roundabout in which only the rightmost lane can exit, but that configuration in your video is a bit much to expect Americans to figure out.
