    Default X50 / (Safety Alert)

I was recently checking out the Speed Labs 2006 Annual Radar Detector
Shoot-Out and was stunned when I read this. Within the write up, they stated that the Bel STI and the X50 would give a Text Read out of a Safety Alert warning. I've always been told that the X50 would only give a K band warning. I could be wrong but this is right off the page. Is it
    a typo?

Yeah that is definitely wrong. The X50 doesn't have SWS or SAS. Also "Road Hazard Alert" is a SAS message, and only Cobras have SAS.

Roy has a typo on his site too with his 2006 SML results for the Spectre III. He put the Valentine One's Spectre III results the same as the Whistler 325's Spectre III results. The V1 results should be 164, 83, and 60 not 204, 146, 140 like Radarbusters.com shows.

SWS and SAS should not be confused.

SWS is read as K band on most detectors because it is an actual radar emitting source.

SAS is a special strobe-detecting system implemented into cobra radar detectors ONLY. It detects strobe lights from ambulances, safety workers, etc.

I've never owned one but I believe the Bel RX65 can display SWS text. The escort 7500S and SR7 can also (I believe) display SWS text.

The X50 absolutely cannot display SWS text, and most certainly cannot display SAS messages because that is Cobra technology only.

SAS isn't the "Strobe Alert". SAS works on K-Band too, 24.070, 24.110, 24.190, and 24.230 GHz.

That's what I was thinking as well.....

I noticed in your comment area that you have K turned off.......
I would advise you turn that back on..... trust me on this one.

But only cobra's have SAS? I thought the cobra's only had the strobe alert patented.

Sorry, I've been misinformed. Is there a reason why other detectors haven't implemented SAS (past detectors at least, I know it's useless now) and what's the difference between SAS and SWS? Two different companies?
