    Default Total X50 newb question

    well im not familar with it but i hear everyone mentioning it...what is the scanning dot, i understand its a feature on the X50 but what does it do?

    absolutely nothing other than look cool. its just a selectable display, a neat little graphic that has no bearing on the performance of the x50.

    Gives you something else to look at than the word "Highway."

    I have heard talk around the forum that it's an over heating display. Basically it shows the Detector is scanning and hasn't locked up from a heat issue. For instance your traveling in the desert and the hot sun is beating down on your detector. If the Dot freezes your detector isn't scanning any longer and has over heated.

    yeah but like mine froze on me one day in like march and i didnt realize it cuz it said Auto and i thought it was working to change it and it didnt now i onlt use the scanning dot simply cuz of that

    I think it would look sick if the dot went back and forth instead of left to right the whole time.

    Maybe it will have it in the new Escort detector, when it comes out in the next year??????????????
