    Default Spec Mode: K Band

Tonight I Threw the X50 in spec mode hoping to get a KA hit to identify the gun used by our Local Leo's. Well I didn't get any KA but I did get a very good K hit. I know that a true K band hit can't necessarily be identified but I would like to pose this question and get some feed back.

As I got hit my Spec read 24.182 .
I didn't really think to much about it til I realized this pattern.
It seemed as I drove, I received either 24.150 or 24.116 as a false.
These numbers never changed, and were always a false.
No matter what grocery store or gas station it was always the same Freq.

So, can I depend on this or will each Leo's K gun read a different freq?

Both K-Band police radar and motion sensors could be anywhere between 24.050-24.250. So, there is no way to tell for certain if it is a false or actual police radar based on the frequency.

Some police radar units could display the same freq in spec mode, but anything the detector alerts to is potentially police radar.

I thought that was the case but it was worth asking.
Spec mode may not be a great X or K band threat identifier
but it works very well for KA as far as gun identification.
Pretty sure we use KA Kustom Eagles here but I'm hoping to
get a hit to concrete that idea.

    Thanks for the info Jim

I almost always get about the same frequency from most door openers, but temperature variance can cause different readings sometimes. However, I haven't yet seen a police K alert in my area that wasn't between 24.100 and 24.200. I have, however, seen a lot of K falses just outside those two ranges. Just my personal experience though.

I love spec display. Since I drive regular routes I think it helps me weed out some of the regular falses.

However; I have two tricky locations one is a CVS that registers K 24.150 - K 24.175 which is the same frequency League City PD uses.

Then I45 South just north of 610 the Home Depot spits out the same K 24.150 - 175 all the time which is not only the same frequency HPD uses but is also located just north of a regular speed trap they set up behind a hill. To make matters worse. The Home Depot is slightly eclipsed by a wharehouse so you get a weak signal a half mile out then nothing until you come by the warehouse then BAM full K 24.150. It's sounds just like an instant on hit every time.
