    damn, ELVATO is right.
i popped mine open to see what fuse it is and there is none.
the power wires go directly to a small circuit board.
that pretty much sucks. no protection from a bad cig lighter.

you're only option now is to either get a hold of a different one, which sounds like that may not be easy, or try making a direct wire cord with a fuse and see if it will power up.

maybe someone there has a Bel, since they use the same cord. STI and RX-65 anyway.

that, or find a way to see if you have power coming out of the cord, but that will require a 12v tester and a bare phone outlet plug, so you can touch the tester to it. easier than trying to touch between the connectors in the small plug end.

    good luck.

Test the power cord with a voltmeter or have some that knows how do it for you.

Anyone know the pinouts of the smartcord?

guys, thank you so much for all the help.

I would be so relieved if its just a matter of changing power cord

my original intention to bring this to a repair shop was to test if the power cord is right or not, since I dont have any tool in hand that can do. But let them play with the internal? hell not. Haha

even if it looks good, i'd get another one anyway. on rare occasion i have seen fuses go bad (blow) that still look good, especially those tube style, if it goes at the end under the silver cap.

a couple bucks for that is your best and easiest option, if that doesn't work, it sounds like something internal.
I have tried open up the cig plug end of the cord, the fuse does look undamaged. I think I will have to start looking for a replacement cord.

    Return policy is already expired.
even it didnt its not worth it for me to make a long trip from asia to US to get it exchanged.

will update here if repair shop can figure out for me if its a blown fuse in the plug. Hope this is the problem

Oh..If the repair shop cannot fix it, your best chance is to send it in to Escort and have them repair it.

Ah from Asia... now I see

Try taking a standard telephone cord, cutting the end and applying 12 volts to two of the wires, of course, the correct ones This will find if the problem is in the detector or in the cable.
