A couple of things you could do.
Go to the Mercedes dealership where you bought the car and tell them that you would like it turned off or if they can change the freq to something that wont set off the RD's.
Or call VR and tell them your situation and see if they can set the K mute for a little longer, or forever but leave the bogey lock tone on. I am pretty sure that they would be able to do that but the question is would they do that for you.

Have you tried a discussion Forum/board that's specific for your vehicle (or a similar enthusiast model)?
They may have certain hacks or other defeat-methods that we who are "on the outside" would not otherwise know about.![]()
Check your fuses for a distronic plus related one and pull it to see what happens.
Trust me, none of the other sites have anything but that it "doesnt' work with radar detectors" (like mbworld, etc).
The issue is one of several fold. I would prefer to find one where the radar detector works rather than disabling the feature. The feature on the car is actually quite nice, just have to figure out how to make it co-exist with the use of radar detectors. So, exploring whether a feature like this could be used to get around it. VR was helpful to a point in trying a configuration but its still a workaround that is still annoying.
So, yeah, while I understand that the feature could be turned off semi-permanently at the dealership - between never having it and dealing with the annoyance, I'd rather keep it for now.
The ideal solution would be to tune the Distronic system to be slightly outside of the police radar band that gets swept by detectors. Whether this would be possible or not depends on the system. That way, the Distronic system would probably still work, and it wouldn't interfere with radar detectors. Of course, the FCC might not like it...
