Tones sound like a slot machine in Nevada, you won you won, here is your ticket!
Actually, i like the tones because it is easier to ID the tone alerts. The 9500i has a lower pitch tone than the X50. As far as the test goes between the 9500i, x50 and V1, the X50 performed better when doing the 3 run test.

Was that a slight curve? High steep was that curve? Can't wait to see the comparison.
Here's the X50 video ramp up alert. Notice the linear alert as i start to go up the hill.

I love the X50 LOUD Ka. I think that is the best alert I have ever heard.

    I agree that does suck....

Is the STi's ramp up the same? I don't remember my RX65 being like that.

I do like the tones better than the x50 though.

Here is a good video of the RX65 ramp-up. It is a lot better than the 9500i. Go to about 52 seconds into the video. It shows the RX65 and "forward facing" radar with good ramp-up. The RX65 never goes to a solid tone though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0OMlWOBw_Y

And here is a video of the STi ramp-up. I'm not sure if this is against photo-radar or not. If it is, the STi may not have full strength: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKdfSxveUmU

My experience with the STi is that it is slower than my X50 with the ramp up and does not have a solid tone at close range. Although the ramp up alert goes up but as if it's being choked and can't go any farther. In the 9500i, it is very obvious because it starts from 2 then 10 whereas with the RX65 and STi, it starts with 1-2 than 5-6 and can't go any further but better than the 9500i because there is no big gap in between. The X50 and the V1 so far is the best when it comes to ramp up alerts.

One thing with the RX65's video in forward facing was that, the source was too close and the vehicle was moving too slow and this could make a huge difference as far as ramp up alert is concerned. It will probably have been better if it was moving at regular speeds. The test i did on the 9500i was over the hill test and could also be a factor with the ramp up. I may try doing the forward facing radar with the vehicle moving slowly to have a good comparison.
