    Here's my 2 cents.......

I don't trust "Auto Mode" as it seems to suppress the alert to much.
When in "Auto Mode" my detector wouldn't alert until I'm pretty much on top of the LEO. This is not "Instant On" have you, this is a LEO running his gun in "Constant Mode". I've even tested this feature on Door Openers and it will go full Blast when I pass the false but when I have it set to "City Mode" it take care of the issue and cancels the Alert out. This false is X band have you.

In my opinion I would Run "City Mode" ( Low X ) unless you have X Band in your Area. Here in Charlotte, X is still used.

Just a note: "City Mode" only filters X Band. "Auto Mode" I wouldn't say Filters but adjust the threshold of X,K,KA Bands

I'm sure your detector is fine. As it's been said if the RADAR isn't transmitting you'll get no detection. Test your detector by finding a store that has an automatic door opener and see if that will trigger an alert on your detector. If it does not, you do have a problem and need service or a replacement.

As for the mode, try highway for a while. Highway modes typically run all bands at full sensitivity. City desensitizes X band some. Auto minimizes the alert on X band signals that exceed an internal threshhold and it's the one you will likely use most often.

I came here for help. Not smart remarks.
As RacerX said, you need to do some reading on this board. The search function is your friend. If you ask a question that 1987983 people have already asked here, you're going to come across as uninformed and unwilling to make some effort on your part, and some people aren't going to take you particularly seriously.

It was a very poplulated school zone. Im sure he would of had his on!
    That's a rather bizarre assumption....

So, What mode should i use? Auto, Highway, City?
Again, there are dozens, if not hundreds, of threads on this forum that address this issue. Perusing these topics ought to be of immense help.

I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything. I'm just saying, it's helpful to do some reading first. I had been reading this forum for weeks before I made my first post. There's nothing wrong with asking questions, of course. We all have to start somewhere. But in my opinion it's a good idea to appear at least moderately informed when asking a question.

If you know you are a newcomer to a community and you're familiar with on-line Forum/d-board interactions (as it seems you are), then you also know that at the beginning, you should not only be polite (and even excessively so), but to also double-time your homework.

The search function here is enabled to allow the "all terms" logic connector, and searching for "x50 setting," within the first two minutes of reading the 4 pages worth of posts that were found, I was able to locate these threads:

    http://www.radardetector.net/viewtop...ht=x50+setting

    http://www.radardetector.net/viewtop...ht=x50+setting

    http://www.radardetector.net/viewtop...ht=x50+setting

In my opinion, this should address anyone's questions about which mode/settings to run his or her x50 in, under varying conditions.

2003 comes to mind, though I'm not sure. Usually Belscort throws out a new one every 3 years or so (I believe)
