SHADY person right here. This is not skinning bad Escort CS, this is skinning BB or another honest human being.
No, defective items purchased by large retail chains are sent back to the manufacturers :P sooo...yes, skinning escort, not BB....but since they finally made things right, I definitely retract my former suggestions, good to see they aren't behaving like Bel (even though...yeah I know)

Suggesting that the owner of a defective unit sell it on eBay is just plain wrong -and- shady. If you have a defective unit, exchange it, return it to the retailer, get it repaired or throw it away.

    Ven0mizer, you are scum.
Have you any ethics at all? I know ebay is full of dodgey gear but that is extremely low to suggest trying to rip off some innocent buyer.

well maybe now you can see why everyone on this forum is so against buying electronics on ebay. Everyone lways has their "I got a sweet deal" story but imagine the possibilities to get screwed, even if there is one person on this board wh wants to sell a bad unit, considering all the problems that escort had last year, there are probably hundreds more with the same idea as ven0mizer. Makes you think.

As for the original topic of this thread, I am not sure if you were on the bored during the "E" error and the "J" bug issues everyone had, but "send it in" was the refrain everyone was getting from Valentine too, thats just the way it goes with electronics, good to hear you got them to understand finally.

I admit it is low, but when you buy something from ebay that is sold in countless stores for NEW, let's face it...you're just a cheapskate looking for a "deal" anyway :? I've bought tons of crap from ebay that has arrived in non-working condition, or completely falsely advertised, so I would have NO GUILT in selling crap to one of these guys who might have sold me crap as well. For instance, recently I bought a parking brake boot for my maxima that was advertised to fix my maxima PERFECTLY...what they didn't tell you was you'd have to sew it in yourself and even then it doesn't fit snuggly around the handle so it basically "swallows" the handle when I pull the brake....granted it was only $20 but how much would it cost to ship back? Is it worth the hassle of sending back something with thread marks already in it possibly not getting a refund? NO!...I had the EXACT SAME THING happen with a spare fuel pump I bought for the maxima as a "just in case"...yeah...I decided to swap it out one day as the maxima had a miss, so I thought hey maybe fuel delivery is below par considering the fuel pump has 150k+ miles on it...yeah, the "new bosch" pump didn't even fit...I was so pissed...So now I stay far far away from ebay. I've seen countless remarks of people buying V1 813's that have been WAY WAY WAY out of tune...granted the people buying these are smart enough to know they gotta send them in for repair, but the majority of ebayers are not smart :P How do businesses make money? By taking advantage of people that do not have the knowledge or capability to complete a service, that includes real estate, lawyers, a mechanic, etc etc. So selling a detector for REALLY CHEAP, and someone still buys it for the low price? they deserve to get taken advantage of :P

Well, I THOUGHT this saga may have come to a find ending, but, I think I'm wrong.

I called into Escort CS today to see if they had cut a tracking number yet for my shipment. The previous agent I spoke with said as soon as they receive my damaged unit, they will ship out a new unit. The damaged unit arrived in their posession on Thursday so I was giving them a little time to process.

Well, after being on hold for ten minutes, I finally get an agent, explain the situation thinking, this will be easy, he'll just give me the tracking number.

He says, "Hmmm, says here they are lowering the sensitivity of the Laser element to prevent your false lasers."

What?? This isn't what I was promised nor asked for. I don't want this unit plagued with all it's problems anymore. I have lost all confidence, not in the X50, but THAT X50. Nothing short of a replacement will make me feel comfortably protected.

So, I let him know calmly I'm pretty upset about this change of events and he just cuts me off and says he's sending me to the supervisor. So I'm like, great, I'll get to talk to someone. Nope---vm.

So I call back and unfortunately get the same guy---I was hoping I would get hte person who made the initial promise to me. So this guy seems miffed I called back in and said, "Well, I sent you to my supervisor". Yeah, I remember leaving a message with him months ago about an inquiry and never getting a response. I wasn't real excited to find myself in his vm box again.

Anyway, here I sit waiting for Mr. Kennedy to give me a call. If I spent $80 for a Crapa or something down at Walmart, I would expect this type of thing and could just afford to go get a new one if I was having all these issues. But when you spend upwards to $400 on something that is supposed to be state of the art and have all these issues and they can't issue out a simple replacement, wtf people.

Argh, I'm just frustrated! Do what's right, Escort!!

So, I sent an email and put a vm into the supervisor today. Got a response right at the close of business today. He was very sympathetic and willing to help out if I continue to have problems. However...

They have already repaired the unit and placed it into the warehouse for shipping. Unfortunately ( and this is what I was trying to avoid ) I can't interrupt this process.

So, if it comes back with the same problems, I will have to ship it out yet again. And be without the unit, yet again. I figure I bought the unit in March/April and there have been 20 days since then that I have not had a radar detector I paid $360 for. Sigh...

    I'll keep you posted.

The detector works--there's no doubt in that. But it's like, how can I put this, having a beautiful and bodacious blonde girlfriend with no strings attached but unfortunately has the worst breath and annoying voice you have ever heard. Yeah, that's right, I said it.

It's nice to know I have great protection but the falses are killing me, man...
