Well, first off...every battery operated radar detector ever designed has had problems with sensitivity since some of their electronics aren't continuously turned on every split second in order to conserve battery life. There are several corded radar detector models available which offer much better performance -- especially on Ka band. Lots of people here will be willing to offer their suggestions for the most suitable radar detector model(s) for you, but first it would help if we know a few things about your driving locale.

-- Do you do mostly rural/highway driving, or is half or most of your driving in cities or suburbs?

-- Do you live in or regularly drive through VA or through any Canadian provinces where radar detectors are illegal to own or use?

-- What are your driving habits like? Do you always try to keep your speed within +10 of the posted speed limit or less, or do you always have an excessive lead foot?

Its late at night, but these are just a few questions which I can think of, the answers to which will help to determine the ideal radar detector(s) for your needs. I'm sure that lots of other good people here will chime in with questions and replies tomorrow

For the price of the Solo, I'd get an X50 and keep 30 dollars

    Yes, return it ASAP.

Unless someone's vehicle / ride absolutely can't use a corded one due to design considerations etc., I would never get a cordless one.
Cordless detectors may be convenient, but as you noticed in the GOL tests and as pointed out by others in their replies, cordless ones are not nearly as good in terms of sensitivity as corded ones, with the exception of some bad corded ones, but you don't want to compare performance against a Cobra anyway...

Even of they would of made the Solo2 so that once it's plugged in,all of it systems became fully active instead of sleeping,it might of been half worth it.

If your in an area where detectors are illegal, I would strongly suggest
getting the Beltronics STI. You could Hardwire it to your car so the
wires are out of sight. Give something like this a try.
