After Anna was born, I only had hour-long breaks (sometimes even less), here-and-there, to work on my car.

Just about all of my wiring runs, since then, have been via the A-pillar fender-gap. Ghetto-routing.

Only recently, as Anna's gotten older and left me more time to do things right - that I've had the chance to again utilize proper through-firewall pass-throughs. It's ironic that the majority of my wiring runs through the "ghetto-gap," while the two little leads for my rear fog-lamps (which I've rigged to fire with the fronts) use a "proper" grommet pass-through!

^^^ Yeah, yesterday I quickly discovered that duct tape is a ghetto installer's best friend!

Back to the overheating GPS antenna problem. Well, I ran my 9500ci all day with its GPS antenna stuck up into the cavity underneath my car's center plastic brake light housing. Note that the underside of my center brake light is accessible from my car's trunk. And we all know that the interior of the trunk of a parked car stays cooler than the passenger cabin since the passenger cabin's windows create a greenhouse effect. Anyway, I didn't have any problems with overheating, and I got a very quick initial GPS lock after powering up the 9500ci this morning.
