my x50 is coming back today!!!!

woooo!!! just did the online chat thing on escort's site and they told me it shipped out on monday and i got the UPS tracking number and it will be coming in today! can't wait to get it back, man that sucked driving 2 weeks without a RD... had a couple of close calls without the RD... glad to get it back! i'll let you guys know what they did to it.. do they do 2 day shipping with UPS? i thought it was coming back to me USPS.. oh well, i'm just excited to get it back today!!!

just got the package from UPS! on the technician report card it says: replaced speaker, new top case, and new front lens.. they also gave me a new windshield mount and 2 pairs of suction cups... glad to have my x50 back!!

I just went through the same thing, had to borrow my wifes while mine was gone. Doesn't matter if I am speeding or not, I just like seeing it up there. Hope it works better now.

yeah, it was tough to part ways with it when i had to ship it out, that was the last thing i wanted to do.. but oh well, ya gotta do what ya gotta do i guess lol ... i'm just happy to have it back.. but at least you had a backup RD while yours was in for service

Yeah, thats why I love having numerous RD's for back-up. Its nice to see that they treated you well, and you have the X50 back safe and sound.

yeah, very true! escort was very nice and they got my RD back to me in a week, pretty fast!

i wonder why they replaced the top cover on it, it was in mint shape when i sent it out.. maybe they did it just to be nice?? lol

Maybe the bracket release mechanism either felt a bit fatigued, had a small crack, or its hook for the bracket notches was a bit worn. The bracket release mechanism is heat bonded to the inside of the top cover. So, I guess this might be why they replaced the top cover.

ahh i see..... is this normal treatment that escort does with their customers? or did they replace it because the radar detector was still under warranty?

and what do they mean by front lens, the part in front of the horn correct? thats my guess.. they probably thought that was all scratched up...

oh and it feels great to have the x50 back mounted up in my explorer!

They probably replaced the top cover since your RD is under warranty. You are correct, the front lens is the tinted cover in front of the radar horn. The tech may have seen a few hairline scratches on the front lens which you hadn't noticed, so he replaced it so that your RD would come back looking nice and like new.

alright, that's what i thought.. i'm very happy they did it though!

does anyone have any pictures of escort's facility / repair shop?? that would be a fun job ! wonder if they get good discounts??
