I think it's the same as a 9500i with "Fix".

I keep mine in Highway mode and shut off AutoVol which helps a little both these (Auto and AutoVol) make it behave more sporadic.

With ix I find it less of an issue. I have so much more confidence in the ix than the i that any alert needs attention and I don't mind as much.

I still think they need to back off on the false suppression (especially with ix) since GPS Auto lockout supersedes the OLD false suppression techniques.

    Guess I can't write. Or...

    The answer is NO. IMHO.

Most feel AutoVol is broken anyway. So shut it off.

Auto will jump in and out of HighWay mode which will make it jerky.

Having the volume going up and down and going in and out of highway is what PARTIALLY makes the 9500 appear to ramp poorly.

    Try it.

With the ix in HighWay mode and AutoVol off (I never even bothered to test AutoVol on ix) it's the quietist detector ever.

I think the concensus is that the ramp-up is a feature, not a bug, but a controversial one at that.

I think the rampup is fine on the 9500i(x). I think the rampup is fine on basically every RD I have used for a while now, with the exception of the STi, which might be resolved pretty quick. Some are better than others, but once I get used to whatever the rampup is, I can adjust.

Ramp up on mine seems very similar to my old 8500 which is just fine.

    Same here.

Very smooth and all the bars progressively lit tonight while an oncoming leo had his Ka locked on.
