Wow...
Wow...
As a Belscort fan, i'm glad this guy is buying a V1 myself. Just sayin'. This guy reminds me of a certain Kid, that knows nothing about Radar.
Well, us V1 guys will be happy to have you. Welcome to the world of alert.... All the time. It's cool. Set your RD up right and it will be good to go.
Well thank you for that info Einstein. I'm sure it doesn't compare to new models, but at the time I was in the Army and living in Virginia, that was the best stealth model you could buy. It also came with an assurance from a company that if I ever lost the key to it, I could just call and get it replaced. That was a lie.
Judging from your 5,196 posts as an eThug on a radar detector forum, you probablly drive an Escort, and wouldn't know a member of the opposite gender if they were standing next to you.

I don't know much about them...so I'm taking advic from the Belscort experts. So far I've been told that the first product I bougth was crap. When I corrected that expert and told him that I never owned it, he told me the other one was crap too.
So, I've been told that two Escort products are crap and that my troubles are my fault. What great ambassadors of the product you guys are.
I came here hoping for a little sympathy and maybe a suggestion on how to get this chunk of crap repaired for less than an arm and a leg so I can use it in another car of mine...instead I got jumped on by someone who hasn't a clue how I care for my electronics, then his cellmate girlfriend jumped on me because he didn't like the way he was being treated.
Great job guys!
Gerry
No biggied Valentine will be out of business after 2012.
If the wife hated the x50 for annoying false alerts, then she'll probably chuck the V1.
I don't think anyone at Escort snuck into your car and waved a magic wand on the x50, making it go out of tune. What has happened is that over time due to heat, humidity, etc they fall out of tune and need a simple trip back to the homeland to get patched up.
If you call Escort and explain the symptoms they can get you a quote on how much it's going to be to repair it. I'm guessing it will be around 70 to 80 dollars.
Finally, I don't think it's in good spirits to assume that all of us are blowing smoke up your ass. What most of the members are trying to tell you, is that it's normal for detectors to go out of tune. It's also normal to send them in for a tune up.
Sorry, you couldn't get a key for the solo. I would like to think if it meant a lot to you, it wouldn't be a problem to open the case, and probably just throw a little solder between two contacts.
