Opinions? Going to install in my e34 BMW (94)
If the detector is going to be out of your easy reach (i.e. that you have to reach up to the headliner area to get to it, etc.), it's an easy decision - SmartCord, all the way.
^^ I have both of my smartcord remotes mounted within arms reach so that I don't have to lean forward and change my driving position.
I have the reg smartcord and I can not believe how much I use the mute button since it is in reach.
Does anyone know where I can find install instructions for an e34 (540i) 94 BMW?
There is another hard wire cord, I can't find the link at the moment. It is a hardwire with a remote mute button with no lights. I think its a great idea as the Esort remote smart cord is very bright at night. It depends on what options you are looking for. I can honestly say, I use my remote mute and hardly ever look at the lights. Escort has a great sound for all bands. Mine is a custom remote mount, pics in my link.
Fire thinking of this site:

That's it, thanks, I will save it. It looks like a good idea. I did talk to the guy that makes them. You can add the LED light, but it has no mount,j ust a LED bulb, that's why I went ahead and did my own. I got the idea from a post in here. I cut the smart cord apart and used it. But as I said before, smart cords are really bright at night, you have to put window tint on the bulb to make it bearable at night. Check my link to see how I did it.
Just follow the instructions in my video:
YouTube - Hardwiring a Beltronics STi Radar Detector to a 2007 Civic
Its for a Beltronics STi Driver, but the Escorts use the same smart cord. Just find a fuse thats run on accessory mode (runs only when your ignition is turned on) in your vehicle and you are set.
