    Default 9500ix configuration?

I am a new 9500ix user. I've had it for about a month, and found perhaps ~4 real encounters with LEO radar?

I am starting to explore some of the settings and seeing about changing them from default. Coming from the world of scanners, the RD is certainly more of a 'plug-and-play' device.

Anyway, right now the only non-default setting I have is the 'pilot light' or the on indication. I have it set to vehicle speed.

...the one thing I don't like about the current default setup is that when it detects radar, (in the default mode), it displays speed and then it displays the signal strength bar graph. I think it'd be more useful to show the bar graph first so that I can start to see if I'm getting a progressively stronger signal (e.g. a threat) or a weaker signal that trails off (e.g. a motion sensor).

If I show the speed constantly, then I'll probably be pretty aware of my speed and I'll eventually remove speed display from the alert sequence.

How do others on this forum have these settings, and why?

Also curious about though on 'POP' mode configuration? Default setting is off, and many here seem to have it off. I'm guessing this is to reduce false positives?

I prefer the speed reading just before alert strength, when I get an alert I glance at the RD see my speed than the strength and adjust accordingly. It works quite well for me.
The 9500 is so quiet with so few falses i just slow down whenever I get an alert anyway.

POP tends to increase falses plus it isn't really used anyway.

I didn't like SpeedAlert's speed display before the alert either, so I turned it off. I run Pilot SPD at all times anyway so SpeedAlert is somewhat redundant ... plus Pilot SPD is a perfect indication your GPS is working.

Thats exactly how I run my 9500ci. And to further answer b50hbuff's question, only turn POP on if you know that it is used in your area. The reason is that when POP is turned on then the RD has to spend a lot more time constantly checking specific radar frequencies for POP transmissions. This in turn lowers overall sensitivity a bit since less time can be spent scanning all of the other radar frequencies.
