If anyone in the Chicago, Illinois area would like to buy this detector, let me know. I guess it would be great for someone who already has a 9500ix and is looking for a second detector for another vehicle.

Its not fishy. I am a real person. The story I have given is completly truthful. I have nothing to hide. But, I guess you are entitled to your own opinion.

I don't think thestaton is questioning you. I think, like me, he is questioning the story told to you by the seller. Whoever the seller bought it from, I should think that he would have some way to contact the original owner and have that owner contact Escort.

Do you have the case? I would think if it isn't stolen, you would have gotten the case with the RD. If you have the case, I would think the key code would be in it. I don't know why anyone would take the key code out of the case.

Additionally, if you knew some other place to get the downloads, those would work too. That would be WRONG though.

If Escort are going to be dicks about it, I might even go to Best Buy, buy a new one, register it and then return it the next day. They might eventually cancel your registration that way though.

Another option would be to swap the one you just bought with a brand new one. You know you can unscrew the case (which has the Serial # on it) and swap out the insides . That would be EVIL though. Don't do it.

    Company's should always play nice.

you would still be out 15% of 499 the restock fee 74.85 $

There is no restock fee if it's defective. As long as you bring it back in 1-2 days they won't question it. Wait a week and they may think you bought it for a trip to Vegas or something.

Don't feel bad as I also have a 9500i that doesn't have a serial # so I can't send it into them as well. It sucks because for those of us who have a long history w/ them even on their computer, it's still not good enough.

Looks like this detector will have a new owner tomorrow. He did not care about not being able to update the detector, for the price I sold it to him for.
