I'll give the same advice I was given - find a stationary radar source and test behind the tint and below, if you get the same readings then you're fine.

Factory tint is usually fine because it doesn't have little metallic balls in it. The after market tint you can apply yourself is what usually messes it up.

No it is not. Laser detection from your RD is completely pointless. Once you receive a laser alert (if you even get one), the officer already has your speed. You can't "mount in the middle" and expect your RD to save you from everything.

It is very definitely not that simple. That's why it is almost completely unheard of to see a serious enthusiast mount a detector in the middle of their windshield. It is total fail on every level to do so.
