I stick with Expert Meter on my X50. I prefer being able to track multiple signals visually; and I haven't had much enjoyment with the frequency display or the big-bar-of-blue display.
Yes, I couldn't live without it!
No, it's a complete waste!
Sometimes, I can take it or leave it.

Well I don't have my 8500 yet, but I think when it arrives, I will start out using it on SpecDisplay for a week or 2, and the Expert Mode for a week or 2 in order to see which one I like better. If I need to I will just switch back and forth.
I switched to expert meter after about 2 weeks with the 9500ix. I got used to it quickly, and now use it 100% of the time. As CJR says... It's fun to hear Multiple Frequencies Detected!!
I like Spec mode better than Expert.
It was my understanding that even a very weak Ka signal will always outrank a strong K band signal on threat mode. That's been my experience anyway.
That said, I find threat mode more convenient than expert mode because I end up muting it a lot for falses when I have passengers. With the bigger bars I can keep an eye on it to make sure I don't come across an actual K band threat right after muting out a walgreens or a speed sign.
Escort's always done Laser > Ka > K > X; and tiebreakers amongst the band categories are broken by the strongest signal strength.
H. . . . . . . . . . .
