V1 vs Redline

I loved the arrows on my V1, but I'll take SpecMeter please. I'll give credit where it is due, I loved the ramp-up of the V1. Hands down the best I've come across, but needs to chill pill every once in a while. Looking forward to their patent expiry in 2011.

Let's hope something happens that allows VR to keep the uniqueness of their detector. Unfortunately, Mike V is getting up there in age, which leads me to wonder what will come of VR and our beloved V1. Maybe V1.9 will have some patent renewals in store?

My boss just started our company (3.5 years old now) 10x more complex than a Radar Detector and he is 75 years old. So don't put Mike V out to pasture yet. Really depends on what he wants to do. Few people I know the sell out in their 50's regret it.

The earliest V1's touched on spec display with a blinking or steady dismal for two different types of Ka band, don't know what they were thinking to discontinue the progress.

Right now I can see (V1)Arrows+(ER)SpecMeter+(V1)Ramp-up on the horizon. That will seriously be the sh1t and would be more than willing to pay up. Heck, I'll give'm a tip just for coming up with the damn thing.

I'd take the arrows (which also implies a real rear antenna) any day over all escort display options even if they could all be displayed at once. Only features that compete with arrows that escort has is stealth and gps. Other display options are nice but it's not at the same level of these features

It's hard to live without spec display, decent visual band display, voice alerts ...

Arrows are the only thing I miss about my V1 but they are hardly a necessity. I had a rear 34.7 save with the 9500ix this past weekend ... Ka alerted and stayed on for awhile, and eventually a CHP passed me and finally pulled over a customer.

Like most people would do, I stayed in cruise mode while the Ka was alerting ... it would have been nice to know where he was coming from to be sure, but as long as Ka is displaying only a moron would speed. It's not like I would have said, "Oh, the LEO is behind me so I'll just speed up."

I seem to remember I got a lot of front and rear arrows with the V1 when the CHP were coming from behind me, which is useless because it was always just the front antenna catching reflections.

I'm loathing my potential return to that monstrosity, but if the Redline does not fix the Q/T issue I'll be giving it another try.

Glad to hear someone else shared my same experience. I like the arrows, but I love my SpecMeter. A frequency from SpecMode can tell me if the upcoming threat warrants my caution. Arrows not really, nice ramp-up though.

I've done it. If he's not gaining quickly you've got nothing to lose.

Well sir, you do have some big cojones and my hat to you. I'd probably be to worried to get caught redhanded. Actually, longterm experiece with SpecMode and the audible tone will give you confirmed threat and location.
