Default 9500ix Ka encounter - No sound

I received a Ka blip then no other sound or voice alert. The meter (in Expert mode) got stronger and stayed pegged until the LEO drove past. When the LEO was passing me, it went from nothing to full volume. I was in Highway mode with AutoMute OFF.

Any ideas what was going on?

A couple miles later, I received a half mile strong X signal (both voice and alert). The LEO was coming from a side street completely perpendicular to the road I was traveling on.

Still waiting for the Redline to arrive. Anyone with Redline vs 9500ix comparisons?

Could be the auto mute which mutes the detector when traveling less then 25 MPH.

The LEO's radar was facing the opposite way (your direction of travel) and your "blip" was a small reflection from behind the LEO back to you.

I've had a similar experience. Could this be the poor ramp up people talk about? Maybe the 9500ix doesn't go full volume if your driving slow? My auto mute is off.

I think your right, my 9500ix doesn't beep much if I'm driving slow unless I'm right next to the source.

He had forward facing radar. I could see it. The ramp up on the meter worked well, but nothing on the audio alert. I had full alert on the meter well before I saw him (half mile, so it couldn't have been rear facing). Nothing audibly until he was next to me. Again Highway mode with AutoMute OFF.

If it was rear facing, how could I get full meter alert and no audible alert? Just looking for help here. I appreciate all suggestions. Thanks

Doesn't being in Highway mode allow alerts at any speed as opposed to Auto mode?
From what I remember, I was going about 40.

yes, something happened. Test it some more it sounds like a speaker problem or just a fluke.

I know the ix has poor ramp up. Is it different for audible vs. meter alerts?

I have noticed activity on the meter while there is no audible alert. I have noticed similar things happening on my SOLO2.

You guys notice this at higher speeds? I've noticed this at low speeds, but haven't driven enough to test it at higher speeds.
