Helloooo Escort, what's the holdup on this thing?
I'm going to attribute it to the many requests, the updated version, and the non powered 9500. Escort needs to focus on this update!!!
Should be available by the end of the first quarter. But i want it now!
May i ask what the firmware update is supposed to include???
Alright thanks!
Hopefully i'll be able to connect it to my mac by then... im doubtful tho....
Other issues I would bet on.
- For some it will add directional reporting of RLC/SC
- For some it will add access to the TSR information
- For some it will make cameras work that otherwise do not show up or cameras that did show up just "disappear"
For a long while myself and many pthers have been waiting for this update to come out to the masses. It was expected to have been out before the end of last year.
Anyone buying a new device or upgrading a device will be getting the update
The update will not include the USB power mod if you do not already have it
There are people out there (I know this for a fact) that can not see some of the cameras and because they will not put the RD in the shop they are not going to see the cameras until the update comes out.
If you can't wait anymore contact ESCORT and ask for a tune-up ($79.95) or if you know that you have missing cameras after working with ESCORT you may be able get it repaired for the cost of shipping and being without it.
All of the above information is factual and not guesses
I recently made a direct inquiry about firmware updates for the 9500ix and got the folowing reply:
"The last software update for the ix was in October, 2008. They will be released as needed."
So I am not sure there will be any updates released anytime soon.
I wish I could tell you. All I know is there were tests made of certain cameras in Tucson (according to my research these cameras have given many manufactures troubles - I would guess for different reasons).
These cameras were verified that they did exist and Escort tested the known data against the (then) existing firmware for the 9500ix. These particular cameras did not show up. A change was made to the firmware and once the change was made the cameras did show up.
I was given the opportunity to wait to have the software become available on the Escort site or let the engineers install it. I chose to have it installed. All was well after the installation and testing on my side. My guess was that because the new firmware was directional it depended on the cameras not occupying the same spot when facing either direction. I noted that the cameras that did not show up were on the same pole, one camera south and one camera north.
Afterwords I noticed that owners were having the same problems and I suggested to them via an existing thread and PMed them as well that they should send their RD to Escort and have the firmware updated. They have yet to do so and chose to wait instead for the firmware to be released.
Bottom line is there is a firmware difference between what is on the ESCORT site and what is being sold as new or upgrades. Based on the information I have read on the ESCORT site they will upgrade you to the latest and greatest if you send your RD in for a "Tune up".
Only ESCORT knows why the firmware has not been released and when it will be.
