    Default Service Required question

To begin with I searched and tried to find the answer, I came up with 500 pages and looked a at few and gave up.

My RD is a 8500 X-50 blue. I bought it in mid 2004. Is it still just as good as new as long as I get no service required messages?

    Do RD's wear out?

    Or get weaker with time?
I want a new one. Do I need a new one?

Mine had the service required display when it was less than a year old. Escort replaced antenna, recalibrated and updated software. RV10. All under warranty back in March of 2005. So that was like 5 years ago.

    Serial number 03000140 1304

    Thanks!! SmoothFox

If it's working fine, then you're good.

The 8500 will tell you if it needs service but if you're worried you can send it in to see if it's working OK. After 4 years it may have developed some issues, who knows?

I always drove with x and k off. I turned them both back on before driving into work. I was hoping to sniff out some door openers with k but no avail. Do house alarms run on x like commercial alarms? Time for a mini road trip to one place in Arlington I know of that has x. My neighborhood has tons of house alarms but no warning from the x50

    Thanks SmoothFox

The guy at the end of my street does anyway, he's the only house I've ever come across with one though.

Thanks zerbey, I have some testing to do! Makes me want to leave work early today. It's beautiful outside today.
