Yes, we all slow down but the arrows allow you to speed up if the cop has already passed, or is real far behind you which a Belscort will not let you know. The Expert Meter is better than the bogey counter?
If I pull up to a place with 8 door openers, the V1 will give me that number or maybe 7 occasionally. The Expert Meter will tell me there are 2 K band door openers if I am lucky because that is the maximum it can display. That doesn't seem better to me.
But wait, the Expert Meter can alert to a maximum of 4 X band sources at one time. I don't care because I have X band turned off on the V1. The V1 can flash an arrow at the worst threat if there are multiple threats and the Expert Meter can show me the world's smallest display of tiny dots that can only be viewed through squinting eyes. I have used both a V1 bogey counter and Expert Meter and there is no comparison...the V1 is way better.
The first thing I did when I bought my refurb 8500 was to see if I liked the Expert Meter and it was a complete joke. I changed it to Spec Display because it was more interesting to look at but still not as useful as the V1's display.
V1 Display:
Can display up to nine sources of radar regardless of band
Can show me which direction the threats are coming from and flash an arrow at the worst threat
Nice big display with easy to see arrows and number of threats
Expert Meter:
Can only display eight sources of radar (4 X band, 2 K band, 2 Ka band)
Can't tell me the direction of the radar or the worst threat
Small hard to read display with no arrows and no number of threats
