Elementary my dear Watson.
Purchase yourself a cheap a$$ 2nd hand Cobra off the Bay and put it on the dash as a decoy when you park da car.:D
No self respecting thief is going to break into your vehicle to steal one of those. In fact, the Cobra makes a statement about you that will deter thieves in general................AIN'T NOTHIN WORTH STEALING HERE, I'M CHEAP!:p
Put the real thing under your seat.

Now that is funny stuff.

I take my V1 down and put it either in my glove box or under my seat. Then I tuck in the power cord into the headliner. Like it was never there. :D

Conceal the hard wire radar high so its not visible and just leave it there. If you can still see the radar from the outside/front of the car, use a little tint strip to make it darker.
Oh, just going to Walmart is a bad idea. Those parking lots always have a theif just waiting for a chance to break/grab/run. I have converted to Super Target and couldnt be happier. And the checkout line at target is maybe 5-minutes, not 30-60 minutes at walmart.

I'm new to RD's, but have been using GPS and Sat Radio for years. My own view, is leave nothing in sight, including cords and suction mounts.
For that matter, try to keep your windshield clean of suction marks. I keep a pack of baby wipes, just for that purpose.
Deadbeat thief knows there is something of value, somewhere in the vehicle.
Short of that, leave everything up on the windshield.
Hide in a car close by with a baseball bat - put on your best "Walking Tall" impersonation.

X2.
I mount mine very high above RVM, the tint strip completely hides them and you cant see them unless your in the car.
Newest pic, mounted as high as possible:

The flash brightened up the tint so you can see through it, but during the day the RD is 90% invisible.

True, but they could be anywhere....sitting in a car even. Thieves once followed my next door neighbor who had been holiday shopping at the local mall, all the way home and broke into their trunk as soon as they went inside. Fortunately another neighbor who happens to be a local cop saw it and stopped them.
Not only are thieves clever...they are brazen.

I have my V1 mounted high behind the tint strip, next to the rearview mirror. It's pretty much invisible from the front. I sometimes lower the sun visor so the silhouette of the V1 is not visible from the rear of the vehicle, although I usually only do this if I'm going to be away from the car for longer than 15 or 20 minutes.
Re: Leaving your RD in your car when shopping etc....seeking ideas
Also mounted high behind a 5% dyed film tint strip. All of my windows are also tinted. When I leave, I just put the sunvisor down, covering the RD.
