Default Leaving your RD in your car when shopping etc....seeking ideas

If I park at a Walmart or any place in a questionable area or anywhere I don't feel comfortable, I pop my 9500ix out and put it in my pocket and take it with me. I figure with the mount still on the windshield, and sometimes the power cord still in the socket.....someone who has a habit of acquiring these from other people's car will probably recognize the mount or power cord and figure the RD is under the seat or not far from it. (Yep, even crack heads can figure that out.....I hope you did? (It's just a bit too much to take the RD, mount AND cord every time I park....sheeeesh.

I decided to NEVER use something not attached to me like a hand held carry case or anything like that. Too easy to set it down for that moment that will live in infamy.

Who else does this and what "creative" ways have you found to carry it with you?

X2 Or put it in the glovebox. Also, the mount shouldn't be a problem if you have it mounted high. For the power cord, get the 9500ix hardwired so you don't have to worry about it anymore.

Isn't terrible that we cannot enjoy the things we buy without spending equal time thinking about people who might steal it. I have no sympathy for thieves.

I really haven't found a way that is least annoying that will provide peace of mind, sorry.

Now why didn't I think of that?

    hmmmm...oh wait! I don't HAVE a trunk

Even if I did, do you know how long it takes to open a locked trunk? Not long.

    Yep,

Seems the number of "people?" that make a "living" sucking off the hard work of others has become mainstream. Sad, This nation needs an enema.

When you say "hardwired", would you still be able to disconnect it from the cord and remove it from the car. Not sure what your definition of hardwired is.

    thx

And make sure nobody is casing the parking lot at the time. If the would-be thieves see you putting something into your trunk before you go into the store, they're going to assume what you put in there is particularly valuable - making your car even more of a target.

Yes! You connect the cord to a powersorce and run the cable up your A pillar to the location where you have your RD. The cord is covered up for a nice clean install and all that comes down is a little bit of cable and the jack. You can tuck that up when parked or as I do flip it on the mount and your down when pulling the RD down.
I attached a picture of the smart cord I used with my 955 was very nice and worked well was very happy with it.
I also would connect the power to the fuse box with an add a circuit.
    Hope this helps you
