Why do you think your unit is having sensitivity problems? Please describe how you came to this conclusion.
At some point the unit just starts becoming incredibly nearsighted. One thing to consider is that I am in VA most of the time. C/O is the norm.

Mostly 35.5 and some 34.7. For example - I can generally hear the 34.7 guys coming over a slight rise from quite a distance. When the RL starts acting up, I don't get anything until I'm line of sight with the cruiser. For 34.7, this is obviously very weird. The same thing happens with 35.5, but it's more pronounced. The RL generally doesn't see the signal until I'm right on top of the unit.

I'll usually go back out with the V1 to ensure that C/O is in operation. With the V1 things are more normal, signal is detected well out of sight of the cruiser. Obviously the V1 has a harder time with 35.5, but it still provides ample warning time.

If I wasn't in VA - I probably would have never even ventured into messing with the RL. For me it's been a headache.

My speaker is starting to go. I had the volume set at 3/4 and I noticed it starting to crackle so I turned it down to about 1/2. Never had it set at full volume because of all the problems I have read about with other members Redlines. Have had no problems with detection range. Only owned it about 8 months so it's going to get sent in real soon.

X2 that.

I get ultra spoiled now with massive range in the desert. Once in a blue moon I get a clean, point blank I/O, always in Nevada by a NHP trooper who knows his gear. (In thoese cases, I was luckily at PSL, or close enough for him not to bother).

I hear that the 2006 and up model year UFO's now have VCAS (Vehicle Collision Avoidance System) that utilize K-Band. The aliens couldn't get approval for Ï¿ - Band from the FCC which means that desert goers are going to suffer quite a few more K-Band falses.
Good one.

Sent mine in about a little over 2 months ago due to no alerts on K / KA band after start up, the fix was repaired K/KA band antenna

Both times mine has returned with "Fixed antenna" as well. I asked them to replace the entire mainboard this time. Hope that does it. I realize that their older models were not perfect, but I still have an original 8500 that works great. I'm just asking them to maintain at least that level of quality.

I plan on getting a Redline, are the newer models less prone to all these repairs? If it's almost a given that I get a new one and will to send it in all the time I don't want that headache. I'd like to know what to expect so I can decide if I get the Redline or another detector.

I think I like the RL as it seems a bit more plug n' play with less false/distractions. However, every time I want to hit the return key for ‘proceed’ to purchase I run across a thread with members w/high post-counts that generally show the V1 as their top ranked window dressing. Just an observation from a true blue newb'.

I am pretty unhappy with the volume of Redlines I've seen with the "service required" error coming up after a few weeks. In my group of friends, there's been over 10 (including 1 today!) that they have sent back.
The unit has been out for over a year and yet it's still having issues.
