Yep the original $80 trade-in offer expired on April 30th if I remember correctly. They probably got tired of handing out $80 for all the broken $5 Unidens bought off eBay that people kept sending in lol.

Probably so. I never understood exactly how or why they would give 80 bucks for any pos out there.

It was a way for them to sell radar detectors "factory direct" for less than MSRP without actually listing them as such and getting their dealers upset. They were probably still making more money from selling direct and offering the rebate than they are making from units sent to distributors and dealers. The wonderful World of retail...

The $80 rebate was a great selling point for them, and it was actually worth it buying direct because it was the best deal around. With the rebate cut down to $40, I bet they will see a decline in direct sales, since you could find the same (or better) deals from their dealers. JMO.

Escort gave me $80 for a 1980s model BEL XKR-700. It didn't even have Ka band.Had they not given me that generous trade-in allowance, I probably would not have bought my Redline.

Haha I guess Bel/Escort is getting greedier since people are picking up on the trade in thing. Notice the "limited time only". They'll be getting rid of it altogether soon even though they making a killing on each unit they sell.

If sales go down as the trade-in policy gets more restrictive, they will probably bring it back. When the STi first hit the streets, there was no trade-in allowance at all.

Just returned from northern Kentucky on a trip and was close to West Chester, Ohio on my way back to eastern Ohio. Had to stop, it was only 15 minutes away. Real nice guy at the counter. Even set up the new detector to my liking. Very impressed.

Traded in a 5 or 6 year old Solo for a 9500ix and left my 3 year old 9500i for an "ix" upgrade. Now the wife will have her own. She likes the red display, thank God. The $80 trade in was definitely an incentive for me.

UPDATE: Upgrade of 9500i to ix took 5 days, unit is on its way home and will be here Monday. I dropped it off last Monday.
