Is the MAX is fully locked in? I ask you this because on 2 occasions I thought I fully seated my MAX but I had not. Try pulling it backwards off of the mount (without pushing the release button) while simultaneously rocking it gently from side to side. If it pulls off it's not fully seated. If it stays on then I haven't a clue what's wrong with it.

    Good luck.

I am returning my max as I have a 9500ix and V1 and like the pair better. I was going to sell them to pay for the Max, but no.

Escort is great in the city where GPS based filtering is "mandatory", while V1 is great on open road where the arrows are very very helpful. So, 9500ix for city/suburbs and V1 for road trips is my preference.

Here are the things I do not like about the Max, and would recommend 9500 instead:

    1. Display, hard to read, blinking lights. Really overkill, 9500 is perfect.
    2. Too big
    3. Too expensive

My personal opinion, based on few years with 9500i and ix, and many before with V1 and a 2000 mile road trip with the max.

    Max:

    - Continuous Ka false alarms.....
    - Mount rattle & hard to release due to release button location
    - Tiny screen
    - Plastic case
    - Big, bulky
    - Various features did not work (ex. cruise alert)

Redline & S3 had greater detection range.

What exactly is cruise alert? Also, my Max seems to have a loose casing on the bottom. It doesn't seem to rattle or anything, but just by holding it you can feel it play around on the XY plane. I don't think it's a big issue, but for something in the price range, I expect the unit to be flawless. I might be giving them a call.

Also, I agree that the release button should be located a bit towards the front for easier mounting and unmounting. I can't say that it rattles on the mount though.

I must be lucky on this one. No loose mount and no false alarms...yet. Yeah, the unit is a bit large, but considering the size in comparison to what we started with (if you are old enough to remember), this one is a keeper for me.

Does the bottom casing of your Max have a little play to it? As if it's loose (even though it isn't)? It doesn't affect anything with the mount at all, just wondering because mine feels like I have a little give back and forth.

Well hell, what do you expect for 500$. Has Escort ever made a good mount? NOOOO, they will not ever put good suction cups in your package.
COME ON - For the amount of cups they buy, they could spend .20 cents for something that works.
