Default Hi Everyone in Baton Rouge\NOLA\Northshore\Houma!

    Hello everyone,

Not a radar newbie, but by no means an expert. After two Cobras in high school\college (12 years ago) I stepped up to an E8500 about 4 years ago. I am not a "super speeder" but there is nothing more annoying than the 63 in a 55 or 72 in 65 ticket. After a few of those, you just want some kind of protection!

I also use "trapster" on my Blackberry and update religiously for the others in my area.

Welcome to the forum. How is the 9500ix performing?

9500ix has not "wowed" me yet over the 8500. It's early though in my trial. Traffic cams\GPS are nice, but not sure if worth 500+bucks.

ALso, mine has turned off for a few seconds twice in the past 4 days for no reason. Cord was clicked in tight both time and plugged firmly into the 12v. Odd.

Have two family members and two co-workers who made offers on my old 8500, I told them I wasn't sure of it's fate.....

It won't, as far as detection goes. These two units have about the same sensitivity. The difference is in the features.

If it's worth $225, I'd recommend you keep the 8500 and add a Cheetah GPS detector for those other features. That way you get all the benefits of the 9500 without any of the risks, and much less price.

I know you prefer the Cheetah units and do not TrueLock, and I have no problem with that. But the Cheetah does not does not provide all of the benefits of the Escort 9500s. The Cheetah units do not eliminate all false alerts like the 9500s do. My 9500s are basically dead silent, unless it's a LEO. The Cheetah units are incapable of that.

I said all the benefits without the risks. That means the RLC and speed trap alerts he referred to. The only missing "benefits" are the ones that come with risks, being TruLoc.

You are misrepresenting the Cheetah units as equal in function to TrueLock.

No, I am not. I was not referring to any lock out or anti-falsing features at all. I was referring ONLY to the RLC and speed trap alert features. That's why I specifically said it only replaced the features that do NOT come with risk. TruLoc comes with risk, therefore it is not a feature that is replaced by the Cheetah.
