Default Geetings from Oregon~we kiss where the sun don't shine ;)

Hello everyone, I'm Gus, a longtime radar detector user from the early '80's. Until recently was running a Uniden Talker from that period. A far reaching unit it was and right durable over the years, even on my motorcyle it never failed. In recent years it's only drawback was it's band limitation of X and K. So it was on Christmas my wife got me an RMR-C475 Radar/Laser dectector/scrambler. I liked this on account of the increased band capability and scrambler. I've read review upon review about how the scrambler does'nt work in these units but I don't really mind as the detector functions very well, I ran both my Uniden and the RMR side by side in my van and RMR had earlier warnings in most cases. So I'm relagating the realiable Undien to my CJ 5 as it's an off road vehicle, fast highway speeds are not what I've built it for. In my van I'm also using a Uniden BCT 6 radio unit and that, more than my radar detector has saved my hiney on more than one occasion, not to mention the high end receiver for Weather band is a nice feature.
All the best to the group.

Gus, you need to forget just about everything you know about detectors and re-learn it from this site. You're not going to like what's coming for you but if you want to be successful at this, you must do it. From reading your post, I can tell you that you have a lot of flawed logic that can be fixed.

    Your Uniden RD=worthless
RMR=horrible detection and the jamming capabilities of a banana. Try returning it if you can, sell it on fleebay or cl.

Send back the RMR while you still can and buy something decent. That thing is good only as a paperweight.

Saying my RMR beats my 30 year old Uniden so is's OK, is like saying my Yugoslav beats my Model T so it must be one of the fastest cars around.

Having one POS beat another POS still means you have a POS.

The RMR is ok if you never drive above the PSL, I know that sounds harsh but it's the cold hard fact, because your win odds is very, very low compared to the other high end RD's. There is a plethora of talk about CM's on this site so take a gander and read up.

Welcome to our most excellent forum and good luck on Monday if your a Ducks fan

Welcome! Please sell or return that detector ASAP!

Spend this weekend on the forums and learn which detectors are good.

Paperweight? So it's not even good enough as a target at the pistol range? lol

(add) Okay - a Ritz Cracker would be just as much joy at the range... probably better.

Sure it would make a good target, I guess it has 2 uses. My bad!

Holy S*** Gus, get rid of that s***!!!
If you're on a budget, check out the Escort 8500 refurbs for $150. It's light years ahead of those two detectors
