I am from Raleigh NC

I have a passport escort 9500ix. I just got lasered yesterday evening for the first time by Cary NC leo. The set up was above moderate traffic. I could see a leo about half a mile up on
the right with his blue lights on. I was moving about 10 mph over the speed limit, with traffic. As I approached his location, laser detect went off. He was on the right side of the 4 lane
highway facing traffic. I never saw him standing outside of his car, so now I'm wondering was another officer somewhere else operating the laser gun. Can he operate from inside his
car? At any rate, he pulled one of the cars that was beside me. There were also two chase motorcycles that had cars pulled over. What I have determined is that you will see the leo on the
side of the road when they are running laser, and you assume they are on the side of the road for something else. Also here I've seen them on overpasses running laser with chase cars further down
the road.
For some reason they have really been busy running mostly radar in Wake Co. here at the end of the month.

Welcome to the forum. The scenario you described is one that NC uses often. No radar detector will protect you against laser, you need a good set of laser jammers.

Couple of questions, did he actually laser me? or did I just get the reflection off of the other car? I can't even tell you if I was really speeding because it was on the beltline going through Cary NC where the speed limit changes from 65 to 60 in a short distance. I think I was running about 71 mph. Is this where they would normally speed trap? Now, do laser jammers really work? Are they expensive? Are they legal in NC?
