I noticed on the LI USA website that the newest firmware supports timed jamming. Are the LI units user upgradeable? If not how do you update the firmware?

I believe you pay and once you receive the updated CPU, you have to send in the old one...

You order a new CPU from LI for $50 and $100 deposit. Once you ship back your old CPU and its recieved you get your deposit back.

Not all firmware updates are necessary.

What you can update on your own is some the features of the LI like timed jamming, Turning on or off certain alerts, etc.

There is currently no jammer on the market that has proven to be user updatable. Some say they will be but I will believe it when I see it.

Thanks. How does the timed jamming work? Are there predefined times that are selectable?

The LI User Software allows you to select the JAM duration from 5 to 32 seconds and the RESET TIME from 15 to 120 seconds in 15 second increments.
