Question about adding LED to LI

Hey guys ... I am sure it was discussed many time but I can't find this info ...

I am trying to add a small LED to my LI setup ... Basically I want it to flash when you get hit and be "off" when i am cruising ...

Please advise me how I can make it work ... I am not super good with the electrical stuff

Simply wire in series the two wires from the LED you wish to add to the two small spade wires on the back of the LI Power Switch (be sure they are of the proper specs) and the added LED will mimic the LED contained in the LI's Power Switch.

That was my initial plan ... but green LED on the switch is alway "on" and blinks when you get hit ...

I want my added LED to be "off" and blink when you get hit ...

You could hook your LED up to the radio mute output.

You'd need to find out (from Cliff) if the mute output goes to 12V or ground when jamming is active. If it goes to 12V, connect the anode (+ lead) of your LED with a 470 ohm resistor to the mute output and ground the cathode (- lead). If it goes to ground, connect the cathode of the LED to the mute output (with the resistor) and the anode to a +12V source of power (probably the LI's power line).

You can buy LEDs with flasher chips built-in if you want the LED to flash.

Thank you Kpatz. Yes, as I emailed you, kpatz is correct. The LI Mute is a negative source or a ground and that circuit will allow you to accomplish your goal.
