Did I break my LI???

Well this would figure.

I got the Truspeed I rented today and barely did any testing.

I hooked my LI up to my laptop and tried to do the registration/activation thing. I could enter my emailand recieved the activation code. I would put the code in and click activate but it kept giving me a failure to communicate error code.

I tried a couple times then the last time instead of the communication code it said connect LI or turn off then on. It was already connected so I turned it off then on. This time it wouldn't connect it just kept saying connecting on the bottom of the communicator window. After a min I clicked cancel and un hooked it.

Now when I turn the LI on the light on the switch blinks constantly and I get no welcome message.

Does this mean it's broke? What's the deal?

Has anyone ever saw the light on the switch just blinking instead of being on solid?


I emailed Cliff but am really anxious to figure this out cause I got this Truspeed sitting here and was gonna test a lot this weekend.

Any help or suggestions welcome and appreciated.

Hi Justin,

Sounds like you may have disconnected/interrupted the data-stream before all the data was transferred. Call me after 10:00 AM when you get up and we'll get you all fixed up. I'm about 90 minutes north of you up I-275 and the Veterans or straight up I-75 at Exit 301 or I would be happy to meet you anywhere in-between.

I have no idea what went wrong. It may have been my serial cord, or I dunno.

I think that basically for some reason even though there is no new firmware, it still tried to upload and flash some firmware to the LI. But for some reason there was a miscommunication and the LI went into "safe" mode. Kinda like when you mess up updating a PCs BIOS. If the PC loses power or something goes wrong you are left with a bricked PC.


All I know is that if you do hook your LI up to your PC, DO NOT click live update (or voices unless you know what your doing) and try to activate/register just for the hell of it.


You will still have to activate when a new firmware comes out so there really is no point.


I may be wrong maybe Cliff knows better but Im pretty sure thats how it goes. There is no point in clicking live update until a new firmware is released.
