    Default Laser jammer dilemma

I have a few questions to ask before I make any purchases.

    1. I am looking at puchasing VEIL, as well as a license plate cover to augment my radar detector. Front license plates are not required in my state, but would adding a cover to the front of my vehicle help to diffuse laser detection?
    2. I am looking to buy a new detector. Maybe Solo S2, 8500 X50 or Bel STi. I need help with this decision. My Passport 8500 is just about dead (3.5 years old). I have disabled the X-band (not used here) and the laser detection, because it would constantly false. It also constanlty shuts off. Not sure if its the smartcord/hardwire.
    3. What seems to be the concensus on the latest (read as "best") laser jammers?
    4. What is the InstallCard for the Blinder, and why does it add extra cost to the end unit?[img][/img]

    1. If you have a front plate yes it would help if not then no. You can still use Veil on your headlights which is the next most reflective item on the front end.

2 You're paying a premium for the stealthiness of the Sti so unless you drive in Canada, DC or Virginia you may want to look at the RX65, X50 or V1. The S2 is cordless and has less range. I'd go with the RX-65 combined with a jammer as the best bang for the buck.

    3) I'd wait on the jammers new stuff is coming and its a bit murky on this.

    4) I'm guessing its you prepay for the install and then you take your unit to that store to have it installed.

Photo units capture an image of your plate so the plate covers work by blocking that image from the camera.

Laser shield prevents the reflection of the beam back to the gun so they are 2 different technologies.

I dont mess around with the plate covers you can get whacked pretty good here for them. I'm already over the line with an RD and potentially a jammer so I'm not pushing my karma any further.

Um its my understanding from what I have been told and whats been said on the forum is that yes they work but only if the angles are right!
So its a give and take relationship...
Also the Laser Shield defuses the Laser beam making the gun work harder to get a reading... but it front LPs are not required DONT PUT THEM UP FRONT!! this gives you a great advantage on laser if you dont have chome or anything really reflective on your cars front end apart from your HLs.

What I would suggest is get a V1 or a X50... I am not to fond of the RX65... but thats a personal thing... its still considered one of the top 3!
Get Veil! put it on your HLs do not use a front LP and wait to make a jammer decision at the moment... some more testing is going to be done in the future I am sure that way every one can make a clear chioce on which one will work best!

    What do you drive?

Get VEIL and put that on your headlights. Do not get a front license plate cover if you don't have a front license plate.

About the photo jammers for the rear, some do work. The reason why that other one is $350 is because it actually has it's own flash built in.

If photo radar or redlights is a problem, get the approriate cover here at radarbusters.com

I wouldn't recommend getting the Solo unless you really do need the wirless. Go with the 8500 X50, Valentine1 or RX65.

STi is definitely not worth it unless detectors are illegal in your area. If you want to get something concealed, go with an SR7 from Escort. But that's going to cost you a lot more just to get it concealed, and doesn't have as good range as the 8500 X50.

Don't get a laser jammer yet.

I'm driving a Ford Escape (Big HLs=BIG SIGNATURE). The Escape has also has alot of front end to RCV reflections from. This is why i question adding a plate shield as an extra deterent.

As I am new to this forum (read as ROOKIE), what are the new products coming up for laser jamming that everyone is telling me to wait for?

Well basically you have 2 sides...

    you have one side

Defender 2... I am on this side...

AL ... The majority of people favor this side...

I am not here to tell you what to buy its your money do as you wish!

Laser shield is only a LP cover.. so like I said the less refelective things on the front the better!!

Yeah SUVs are not very stealth but put it this way you have options on your install as where I dont!!

I sorry if I made things confusing... Welcome to the Forum!!

If you have anymore questions about any products dont hesitate to PM me or ask the forum whatever... but for your own good DO RESEARCH!

Dont take my word for it nor take anyone elses!
