LPP of AL8?

He's a true enthusiast, and has been here for a while. I truly believe that his intentions were good. :)

Instead, it is more that the odds of a single, small, private-party shipment of non-controlled/non-targeted goods coming into the US simply doesn't tend to attract much attention, and thus, due to the sheer volume of goods trafficked, typically tends to escape the duties/taxes and/or brokerage fees that's so commonly seen when importing goods into another country.

I think he simply took his - and others' - good luck, and was trying to make a case of it, when, in reality, caution, as well as the true situation, still merits that these *potential* surcharges be discussed, lest an unaware or too-naive customer makes the purchase, and then was surprised to see these added costs.

In so far as I could figure it from my records, US Customs truly had no rhyme nor reason for why or when they hit my shipments with duties/taxes. I had items that were declared value of over $2,000 that was not taxed, yet a $50 piece was? :lol:

Same for brokerage fees. The strangest one was when an item in the $300 range, coming in from Canada - just north of the border - got hit with this :?: but I've also had goods from both the Far-East as well as from Europe that were hit with brokerage charges, and as a matter of practice, I always used the air/express-couriers (both private-party as well as government-run). Again, no rhyme nor reason.

On a personal/private, small-scale shipment level, Customs duties/taxes and courier brokerage fees is one thing that I've never been able to figure out a reliable way around.... :oops: :(

Don't get me wrong brothers. :) The times I got nailed with various fees and/or duties/taxes were *very* few, compared to the number of shipments that I received.

I'm just saying that the situation was so weird, and so unpredictable. I can only marvel at the inner workings of the US Customs Service, as well as, of course, that of the various couriers! :roll: :lol:

Thank you TSi+WRX you are correct. I was not trying to be harsh or hostile. I'm also sure that U.S. customs operate quite differently than they do in Slovenia :roll:

One never knows when a situation will arise where one of us gets nailed with a duty fee or tax charge.

Presently in the state of Connecticut they are going after a bunch of individuals who ordered cigarettes from out of state for unpaid taxes. One individual owes over $17,000. This is out of state commerce, not even imported goods, so there are no absolutes.

My point was that I have not had any problems personally. Anyone who orders anything from out of state or out of the country may potentially face a situation where they end up owing someone money. Just because you order an LPP from Canada or even within the U.S. does not mean that you are safe either. If you order a Blinder from within the U.S. there is no guarantee that the tax man will never come knocking on your door.

I'm just sick of hearing individuals telling others to buy LPP because if they order an Antilaser unit they will end up paying duties, taxes brokerage fees, and or your first born etc. :)

Who knows, maybe in some countries they behead you as your order arrives at the door :lol: :lol: :lol:

We all share equal risk that is the point. None of us are truely "safe", perhaps that is a better way of articulating it :!:

P.S. Customs have NEVER been a problem for me and I have never paid duty fees, that is a bunch of scare tactic crap :D

To me, currently, there's just no easy winner in terms of the jammer game.

There's pros and cons no matter which way you go, and it's important for the end-consumer to realize all the different connotations before they make their final purchase choice.
