LPP sound q

On the LPP is the speaker seperate? and is there volume control? Does anyone have a pic of the Speaker, LED and ON/OFF switch?

it's not a speaker exactly, but a piezoelectric buzzer. It's the thing in the second pic.

Oh that is the speaker, it looks really small. I am curious if I hide it behind a panel do you think I would still hear it, say like where you have yours but maybe right behind that panel under the steering wheel?

Also, what drill bit size is for the on/off switch and drill size for the led?

i leave my buzzer sticking out of the molding to make sure i always hear it. Sometimes i have the music very loud. If i were you i would keep the buzzer somewhere in the main cabin. You can even tuck it under something so it is out of sight (get creative).

I honestly don't remember what bit sizes I used, but off-hand, I think that for the LED, it was a 1/4-inch bit. I'll see if my mounting "blanks" will allow me to reply to you here, further, on the mute/toggle controls, too.

A part of the problem is that I do the majority of the work "freehand" - which is a habit I picked up from my previous hobby, which involved a lot of "fitting" of high-grade plastic components. As-such, I no longer just drill-and-match, but instead, I tend to use the drill-bit itself to "enlarge." ops:

I, too, leave my LPP's pizo-buzzers out in the open, since my own preference is to cruise with the windows open (even at-speed), and since my exhaust system is also non-stock.

Since the area between my center console and seat is where I've crammed all of my ancillary electronics' control-boxes (so I can easily access the fuse, as well as the connectors, should something go wrong, as well as the retractable USB for datalogging), the pizo speaker heads just nestle there, too. It's not pretty (although you wouldn't notice it, once you're in the driver's seat; nor is it easily visualized otherwise, since it's so deep within the recess between the console and my seat), for sure, but for me, it's an acceptable compromise, particularly for the alert volume.

I have a habit to enlarge holes with 1 bit too, thanks for the help. I am pre planning my install. I like to visualize before tearing things apart.

i have my blue mute wire hooked up to the radio mute and it works great. kills the radio so that you will never miss an alert :wink:

also it does not mute on parking alerts which is handy too or it could get annoying.

Yeah i was just to worried about messing with my stereo system. I didn't want to miss messing with it.

lol my radio doesn't have a mute auxiliary cable.
