Default BelTronics LaserJammer on a 2011 Shelby GT500

I'm thinking of installing a Beltronics all-in-one laser jammer + radar + gps unit. It's the new one coming out (I can't remember what's it called) but it has an externally mounted laser jammer and radar detector.

Just looking at the front of the car, there's only two places that you could install the external unit. Just above the lip spoiler (I don't know whether it would fit though) (option 1), or cut out a piece in the top strip of the bottom grille (option 2).

    Here are my concerns:
Option 1: Assuming it will fit without me having to cut the bumper (don't mind cutting the spoiler), then will placing it here make the laser ineffective? I'm concerned that the laser will be aimed at the lights or something and therefore not paint the laser jammer.

Option 2: If I cut out a piece of that plastic top strip of the bottom grille, the unit could peek out of the hole. I don't mind taking this route, but I am concerned if I have to constantly upgrade the laser shifting. In the future, is it likely that the laser frequencies will change thereby making my laser jammer ineffective? I wouldn't want to cut a hole only to have to replace my unit with a newer unit that is smaller than the hole I cut out.

Any other opinions or suggestions welcome.

    Thanks!!

Welcome. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there is not even the slightest chance that the Bel-Escort family of jammers would even come close to protecting that car. They have a hard time even protecting a black motorcycle. The Blinder and Laser Interceptor jammers are the only ones that can get the job done.

As for a radar detector, we're going to need to know a lot more about where and how you drive to speculate what may suit your needs. While the all-in-one solution you mention may well meet your needs in that respect, the extra spent on their jammer would be a complete waste of money.

hank-u, as u can tell, I know nothing. I'm not a serial speeder, it's just that the cops can be so unreasonable, I have to fight fire with fire. I am willing to tak whatever advice u give.

which would be the best laser jammer and radar detector that u would recommend and where would u mount it? Many many thanks!

As I previously mentioned, we need to know WHERE (very specifically) you drive to determine which detector would be most appropriate for you. Open road highway and inner city driving have very different circumstances to consider, as do specific states and cities. There is no one-size-fits-all best detector. Generally speaking, if most of your driving is outside of the big cities, you want the Valentine One radar detector. If you live in the big city, and do mostly city driving, and don't mind giving up some performance in return for a quieter detector, then the Escort 9500 series detectors are the ones to consider. I wouldn't consider a Redline unless I lived in Virginia or Canadia, or were a commercial trucker. Overpriced and featureless.

Jammer wise, to quote a very wise man, "Buy the BEST and screw the rest." That's the Laser Interceptor, hands down. Radarbusters has the Valentine One and Laser Interceptor together in a package deal, and forum members get a discount which makes it hard to beat. It will take two heads each, front and back, to cover your car, so the Laser Interceptor Quad is the one you'll want.

Thanks everyone. I'm not concerned much about the Radar Detector, because I don't need to cut my car. My main concern is the laser jammer. So assuming I get the Laser Interceptor - where would I mount it?

I live in Alberta so we don't need a front license plate, so it can't be hidden in a license plate frame.

    Really appreciate everyone's help!! Thanks!
