A special ZR-4 should be sent to the next GOL meeting. I cant wait for GOL 2009 since it seems like so much has changed since a year ago. We got new blinders and possible modded ZR-4 trying to compete with the LI king and new lidar guns in the market. Hell, i'll let GOL use my ZR-4 if MEM mods them.

LI has competition at this point, imo. I'll reserve saying that MEM-TEKs are better until more thorough testing, but they're that good.

I'm curious too as to what this mod entails. I'm fairly proficient in electronics and could probably do the mod myself if I had the know-how, and a ZR4 of course.

I've been eyeing the LI for some time now, but if I could get great performance out of a less expensive jammer sold by Radarbusters I would certainly consider going that route.

Maybe MEM-TEK could be employed by Escort to design the ZR5.

IMO, MEM-TEK should make his own jammer - why should he make money for Escort or any other jammer company out there?

From what I have seen Escort could learn a thing or two from MEM-TEK.

Humm.. MEM-TEK making his own jammer? Would I buy a new jammer from a guy who played with just about every radar/jammer in the market? Who knows the ins/outs of radar guns and jammers? Who im sure will help anyone (except BMW owners) with install, RMA, and question? You bet i will. MEM-TEK should not release or say anything regarding modd ZR-4 until its independently tested and shows escort the before/after results. If its that good, Escort should pay for his idea for the updated zr4 or new zr5.

only issue with that is the same voltage is hitting the circuit board, so not exactly sure the high power led's would be on the same operating voltage.
Nobody said anything about it being the same voltage.
Kind of my point, you can't do the mod if the ZR4s led's operating voltage is say 3v, and high power LEDs require 5v, you would need to modify the heads to spit out 5v in addition to soldering on some new LEDs

    I'd buy one.

Given how dog-eat-dog (in the WORST possible sense of the words' connotations) the countermeasures industry is, I'd fear for MEM-TEK, but in other hobby communities/societies, this is very common practice, and such modified products, if of high quality and performance, truly are held in high esteem.

Look at that of the custom/semi-custom knives.

Emerson's products, in-particular, have a huge following of hobbyist custom-workers and hobbyist-knifesmiths. Even Mr. Emerson himself regards some of those hobbyists' work as improvements upon his own production-line items.

Two of my EDC Emersons are lovingly modified just by such a hobbyist, an active LEO, SWAT member, and his department's knife-arts instructor.

I'd be proud to say that I own something modified by one of our own, particularly someone like MEM-TEK.
